Quality assurance

Ensuring the quality of my translation and editing work is top priority at Leube Translation and Language Services. Prior to each assignment, I use a checklist to determine what I need to deliver the best possible results. Who will be reading your text? What language variety (US or British English) is needed? What internal terminology is required? We use client- and discipline-specific translation memory software and conventional glossaries to keep terminology and style preferences consistent.

Depending on the assignment, style guides used may include the AMA Manual of Style, the EU Style Guide for English, the Chicago Manual of Style, the Economist Style Guide or the Microsoft Manual of Style for Technical Publication, as well as style sheets prepared by specific clients for internal use.

Translation jobs are carried out according to “cross-check” principle (in German, Vier-Augen-Prinzip, literally, “four-eyes principle”). For most jobs, texts are fully revised, either by a fellow qualified translator or a subject specialist (for example, a physician or other expert) or both (involving a total of “six eyes” in this case!).
